Getting sacked for calling boss ‘a wanker’ ruled unfair

Sniping at your boss behind his back and calling him “a wanker” under your breath at a Microsoft Teams meeting is not serious enough to warrant immediate dismissal, the workplace tribunal has found.

The Fair Work Commission held that a Darwin recruiter’s “gross insubordination”, foul language and “deliberate agitation” of colleagues at labour hire firm Celotti Workforce was unacceptable conduct but awarded her $6000 as her sacking was without notice.
