‘Don’t shortlist men’, ASX companies tell recruiters

Executives at ASX-listed companies are privately instructing recruiters to shortlist only women for certain senior roles to help them meet their diversity targets, putting the headhunters in what some have described as “compromising positions”.

Chris Karagounis, managing partner of executive search firm Alex Kaar, said companies recruiting for C-suite and senior management positions have instructed him on numerous occasions to exclude male candidates because they “must appoint a female”.
