Builders move to take on wounded CFMEU

Builders are trying to break the shackles of the CFMEU as it heads into administration by claiming back control of subcontractors, threatening a key source of power for the union on construction sites.

At least six builders that have agreements with the union, including two big companies, are planning to remove CFMEU “vetoes” and other restrictions in their agreements that allow the union to influence which subcontractors are picked on job sites.
