Women have to be prepared to promote themselves: Bullock

Embracing opportunities, taking sideways moves and working with encouraging leaders have been key to the Reserve Bank governor’s success

Reserve Bank governor Michele Bullock says women should not undersell themselves, must be prepared to self-promote – even if they don’t feel 100 per cent confident – and should always take opportunities when they are offered.

Bullock shared four things she had learnt during her career as she reflected on her journey to becoming the first woman governor of the Reserve Bank in 2023 in a speech on women’s economic empowerment delivered at the 40th anniversary dinner of Chief Executive Women in Melbourne on Thursday night.
