David Gonski has won the Lifetime Achievement Award winner in the inaugural Financial Review BOSS Director Awards.

David Gonski was 16 when he told his neurosurgeon father, Alexander, that he didn’t want to be a doctor. Gonski wanted to be an architect.

“If you asked my father, he expected I would be a medical practitioner, and I still remember breaking the news to him, when I was 16, that I wasn’t going to, and he wasn’t that happy about it,” he says.
