Boarding schools face ongoing uncertainty as they plan for the 2022 academic year with no clarity over when borders will fully reopen to again allow international students re-engage with their education.

A proposal to create a travel bubble to facilitate the return of school students, similar to plans forged by the university sector, failed to gain traction with state governments, says Richard Stokes, chief executive of the Australian Boarding Schools Association.
