Initiative and courage can build the pipeline of female CEOs

Having a go for P&L roles plus calculated risk-taking by company leaders is the combination required to give women game-changing opportunities.

When I was appointed to my first ASX chief executive role I felt sure I was part of a sustained societal change that would inevitably see more and more women like me in corporate decision-making roles.

My big career break had come almost 10 years prior when I joined ANZ with a consulting background and told then CEO John McFarlane I was keen to take on a profit and loss line role.
