Q: We have paid off a limited recourse borrowing arrangement via a bare trust for a commercial property. What is the process to reverse this please? That is, to get rid of the bare trust and have the original company as trustee of the property for the SMSF. Peter

Answer: When self-managed super funds (SMSFs) borrow money to buy property, the – superannuation rules require them to keep this separate from other fund assets to avoid any prospect of the assets being at risk should the property investment fail.
