This rate-cutting cycle may be coming to an end much more quickly than financial markets – and risk junkies more generally – had hoped.

On Thursday (Friday AEDT), the US Federal Reserve chairman Jerome Powell indicated he was opening the door to the possibility that the world’s most important central bank may be done with cutting rates for the time being.
