Uber scraps $105m Aussie car-sharing division

Uber’s plan to shake up car ownership in Australia and get owners to rent out their cars when they aren’t using them will grind to a halt in coming weeks after the US giant pulled the pin on its Carshare business.

The move brings an end to a heavily promoted Australian experiment, which began in 2022 with the $105 million acquisition of local start-up Car Next Door.
