Ex-Greens councillor defends move to block affordable housing
Former Greens councillor James Conlan has defended a decision to block a Melbourne project that would deliver social and affordable housing after the building was deemed to be one storey too high.
Mr Conlan, who quit the Greens earlier this year in solidarity with Senator Lidia Thorpe, said house price fluctuations were “caused by interest rates, not housing supply”, adding that council planning policies were too often scapegoated.
