West Australian Liberal leader Libby Mettam has vowed to steer the party to the next state election amid renewed speculation over her future and the potential for Perth Lord Mayor Basil Zempilas to swoop on the position.

Speculation over the Liberal leadership has stalked Ms Mettam since Mr Zempilas, a well-known WA media figure, announced his intention to enter state parliament at the March election.
