Thanks are due to Tom McIlroy for his illuminating interviews with Megan Davis and Thomas Mayo about their deep disappointment over the failure of the Voice referendum (“Labor should have paused poll”).

However, the decline in support for the Yes case in the 12 months before the vote was well documented by The Australian Financial Review’s polling analyst, John Black. He highlighted the problems a week before the referendum took place last October (“Voice decline starts with Albanese”).
