It looks like Albo might need that beach house in 2025

There is a disconnect between the prime minister and its senior ministers, which is starting to trigger bad memories for me of the Whitlam government.

It became clear to your humble The Australian Financial Review election analyst in September 2024 that the Coalition, under the charismatically challenged Peter Dutton, looked like it could form a minority government after the 2025 federal election – and I explained why and how on September 16.

Shortly afterwards Prime Minister Anthony Albanese bought his new $4.3 million dollar mansion at Copacabana. So obviously someone read it, although this wasn’t the reaction you would expect.
