Federal and state spending part of inflation problem: economists

State and federal governments should stop putting pressure on the Reserve Bank to start cutting interest rates as a way to relieve voter’s living costs, and instead think about reining in the rampant spending that is fuelling inflation and delaying relief for home borrowers.

Senior economists warn upcoming election campaigns federally and in Western Australia in the next few months will come with promises by both sides of politics that will further increase already high government spending.
