Opposition Leader Peter Dutton’s pledge to match federal Labor’s $7.2 billion for a Queensland highway, on the condition that the CFMEU is blocked from the project, has won support from the state’s premier, who will be responsible for managing the road upgrade.
The sparring over election commitments in Queensland comes as Mr Dutton prepares to kick off his election campaign in Melbourne on Sunday in a bid to win back seats in Victoria and capitalise on Labor’s unpopularity in the state.
