Costs of PwC tax leaks scandal rise another $40m

US tech integrator Slalom will lead the 2026 digital census program for the Australian Bureau of Statistics after PwC and spin-off Scyne pulled out of bidding.

The costs of the PwC tax leaks scandal continue to mount as the professional services firm’s spin-off, Scyne Advisory, pulled out of the race for the prized digital census federal contract.

The contract was instead picked up by US technology consulting giant Slalom after its Australian subsidiary won a tender late last month to be the lead partner for the Australian Bureau of Statistics’ 2026 digital census service.
