ATO chasing $40m from taxi, ride-share drivers

About 10,000 taxi and ride-share drivers are being chased for $40 million by the Australian Tax Office in a crackdown on gig economy workers.
The Tax Office is using data matching to collect and compare financial information such as bank account details and gross fares with its own records to ensure people are paying the correct amount of tax.
