But if there was ever a period that typifies Lenin’s maxim that “there are decades where nothing happens, and there are weeks when decades happen”, it is now. Australia’s political class must contend with disruption on every front: geopolitical volatility, economic instability, technological change turbocharged by artificial intelligence, a challenged green energy transition, weakening social cohesion and a gnawing distrust of public institutions.
