SA Labor says budget cash handout won’t hurt RBA inflation fight

One in four households in South Australia will receive a one-off cash payment of $244 later this month to help with cost-of-living pressures, but Treasurer Stephen Mullighan vowed it will not pose any extra problems for the Reserve Bank as it tries to curb sticky inflation.

The “bonus” payment to low-income households including pensioners, the unemployed and public housing tenants will be made over the next three weeks and soak up $51.5 million of taxpayer funds.
