Interest rates high ‘well into next year’: Carney

Mark Carney, one of the world’s most respected central bankers, says interest rates will need to remain restrictive “well into next year” to tame inflation in economies including Australia.

The former Bank of England and Bank of Canada governor told an audience of business leaders and economists in Canberra on Tuesday that inflation was a “big challenge” globally and central banks must maintain higher interest rates.
