Treasurer Josh Frydenberg says China's dependency on Australian imports will help maintain a peaceful trade balance with the superpower despite recent tensions.

There has been strong criticism of China from Home Affairs Minister Peter Dutton and Liberal MP Andrew Hastie over Beijing's conduct being at odds with Australian values. Concerns around cyber attacks, intellectual property theft and academic freedom have also been raised.
