Retailers, miners and tech companies were Citi’s top small-caps picks on the ASX as more investors hunt for returns away from the major banks that have powered the bull market.

While sharemarket gains in both the US and Australia have been buoyed by index heavyweights, some more speculative investments have notched attractive returns despite small caps being more vulnerable in an environment of high borrowing costs.
