The books that left the biggest impression on the country’s top economists last year were a mix of breezy new releases and historic tomes from which readers can glean insights into modern monetary puzzles.
The standout is The Shortest History of Economics by Labor minister Andrew Leigh, a former professor of economics at Australian National University. The book received the highest acclaim among respondents in The Australian Financial Review’s economist survey with three nominations – from David Bassanese at Betashares, Paul Bloxham at HSBC and Jonathan Kearns at Challenger.
