Pimco’s Bowe wanted to be a stockpicker, but is picking bonds instead

The former music student has survived a decade of low interest rates and is set to take charge of the Australian portfolio of the $US2 trillion global giant.

When Adam Bowe was studying music and psychology at university in Queensland, he would never have envisaged a 25-year career as a bond manager lay ahead, especially as he was more interested in the sharemarket.

But then, who does? Fixed income might be the world’s largest asset class but yield curves and basis points don’t quite have the same appeal as picking stock winners.
