Let’s put market’s ‘little turbulence’ behind us, UK treasurer says

Birmingham | Britain’s chancellor Kwasi Kwarteng has bowed to pressure and sped up his timetable for revealing his plans to cut government debt, as he tries to put what he called the “distraction” of the market’s “little turbulence” behind him.

After a big-spending mini-budget sent UK bond markets and the currency into a tailspin last week, Mr Kwarteng has backpedalled on a key tax policy and then on Tuesday (AEST) brought forward his previous deadline for setting out how he will pay for the government’s fiscal largesse.
