Queen’s death, Voice to Parliament, won’t stop talk of a republic

As part of the lead-up to the 2001 Centenary of Federation celebrations, then Reserve Bank of Australia governor Ian Macfarlane informed Hockey, who was financial services minister, of a plan to issue a new note with an eminent Australian in place of Queen Elizabeth II.
