Economists duel it out on when to lift restrictions

A collection of economists, political and business leaders such as former AMP Capital chief executive Andrew Mohl have pleaded with the Prime Minister and National Cabinet for a measured scaling-back of the current lockdown by May.

The letter repudiates the view expressed earlier this week from 270 academics that there was a “false distinction” in the trade-off between the public health and economic aspects of the crisis.
