Kirsten King wants you to flex; but don’t push Pilates to the limit
Pilates is often seen as a shortcut to lean, lithe muscles. For this fitness instructor to the stars, it’s a way of life.
Kirsten King has created a video Pilates session at Capella as part of its Season of Wellness program.
Kirsten King likes to get hands on. “With permission!” she says. “I have to manipulate the body, I have to show you what I mean when I say, ‘activate this’.” Your body, says King, “doesn’t know what it doesn’t know”.
King and I are in a hotel suite on the 16th floor of Capella Sydney, where she is launching the hotel’s Season of Wellness. King, the founder and owner of Fluidform, is to Pilates what Gwyneth Paltrow is to yoga: it existed before King, for sure, but she brought it to the masses, in Australia, at least.
