Rolls-Royce smooths ride for what might be last petrol Ghost

Nobody wants a standard Rolls-Royce, and the company is only too happy to oblige with an almost unlimited list of options on the Ghost Series II.

The latest “Goodwood Ghost” remains smaller and less expensive than the flagship Phantom, but these are relative terms in this part of the market.

It’s called the Ghost Series II, but it isn’t that simple. It’s actually the second version of the second Ghost built since BMW bought the rights to the Rolls-Royce automotive brand and set up a new factory at Goodwood in the south of England.

The first “Goodwood Ghost” was seen in 2009 and was a slightly smaller, less expensive sibling to the flagship Phantom limousine. While the first Ghost was built on the platform of the BMW 7-Series, the more ambitious second generation (2020) was built around Rolls-Royce’s unique aluminium space frame.
