Opera Australia’s production of Georges Bizet’s Carmen has revolutionised the chestnut’s setting on a couple of levels. First, director Liesel Badorrek has taken the action out of Spain and placed it in what she calls “an aesthetic of rebellion”, by which she means rock’n’roll.
