It was noted in some quarters before Argentina v France that we had waited a long time for a truly memorable World Cup final.

That felt a slightly harsh assessment on Sunday morning, not so much by Sunday night (about 5am AEDT on Monday). So move over Brazil 0 Italy 0 AET in 1994, we have a new champion.
