Brazilian meat giant JBS, the new owner of Tasmanian salmon farmer Huon Aquaculture, plans to make more acquisitions in aquaculture and says the Tasmanian salmon industry needs to do a better job of explaining itself to the wider community.
JBS has just taken the keys to the Huon business after a $425 million takeover, and Australian chief executive Brent Eastwood said it is the first plank in a broader expansion plan globally for the group, as the popularity of seafood rises amid a greater focus on health and wellbeing from consumers.
