Canberra and Washington are taking a keen interest in the progress of a junior cobalt player as concerns mount about China-reliant supply chains and Beijing’s vast influence in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Washington looks set to take Jervois Mining under its wing in a similar way to rare earths producer Lynas Corporation as President Donald Trump looks to shore up supply of key minerals used in the military and in electric vehicles.
