APA widens US acquisition hunt despite loss

APA Group has widened its hunt for an acquisition in the US to include electricity and will also seek opportunities in electricity transmission in Australia as it steps up its push towards net zero carbon emissions.

Speaking after the gas pipeline owner posted its first half-year loss ever, managing director Rob Wheals said the transition to lower carbon energy had opened up significant growth opportunities in areas such as transmission, renewables and hydrogen as well as in the core gas pipeline business.
