Shellfish farmer Yumbah on spending spree amid Huon cry
Yumbah Aquaculture is raising $25.5 million to fund growth and an oyster farm acquisition in Tasmania as Andrew Forrest and the billionaire Batista family trade blows over the future of the Huon salmon operations in the island state.
The manoeuvring between Forrest and the Batistas, who own Brazilian meat processing JBS, over Huon has overshadowed Yumbah’s purchase of family-owned oyster producer Cameron of Tasmania a deal worth $20.5 million.
