Investors need to turn detective in the hunt for interest rate pain

Several sectors on the ASX have surged on the prospect of rate cuts that aren’t coming any time soon. It’s time for investors to reassess.

March quarter numbers from ASX-listed property giant Stockland on Monday suggested the company’s key markets are looking reasonably robust.

Logistics rents are strong, retail rental spreads are holding up and sales of houses in its master-planned communities are up 18 per cent versus previous years.
