The Sir William Wallace is one of those cosy, timber-filled pubs on the Balmain peninsula that might have you momentarily thinking you're in Britain - and the offer of a special curry on the night we visited did nothing to ruin that fantasy. But there's also a solid, if not exhaustive, selection of pub food favourites. The chicken schnitzel was thick and tender and accompanied by a satisfying side serve of vegetables, though the steak club sandwich was let down by the plain sliced white bread. There are also pastas, pizzas, steaks and a selection of burgers.
