We are now two months into the Toowoomba Junior Rugby League season and the stars of the competition are marking their mark.

In our ongoing series highlighting the junior stars of Darling Downs rugby league, we reveal the TJRL under-15 stars with bright futures.

Star Georgaros (Gatton girls)

Star is not only a special player, but also a leader with maturity beyond her years. Her experience and dedication to the game translates to the field. The halfback always leads from the front in all areas of the game and is an absolute workhorse, giving her everthing in every single game.

Lily-Jay Lehne (Gatton girls)

Lily-Jay is an incredibly hard working player, who constantly puts her body in the line for her team. Her work and organisation at dummy half really connects the team but it’s her toughness that is truly inspiring.

Shae Burchmann (Gatton girls)

Shae is very new to the game, but you couldn’t tell watching her play. The front rower’s ability to translate training to her game has seen her become one of the go-to forwards in the Hawks setup. With great line running and one per cent plays, Shae has continued to impress and improve rapidly.

Tanisha Wilkin (Gatton girls)

Tanisha runs powerfully in attack with absolutely no fear and her efforts in defence also often lead to important try-saving tackles. With her hard work behind the scenes and as she gains more experience, Tanisha will be a weapon in the thorn of her opponents for years to come.

Aaliyah Hagan (Newtown girls)

A powerhouse front rower who brings a strong positive vibe to her team. She tackles hard and runs the ball harder. Aaliyah frequently breaks the defensive line and is always looking out for her teammates to offload the ball and share around the try scoring.

Angel-May Monagle (Newtown girls)

Angel-May is a defensive machine and opposition ball runners avoid her at all costs. Angel also shows great sportsmanship towards her teammates and her opponents.

Makayla Zirbel (Newtown girls)

A wonderful utility player who can line up at halfback, hooker and fullback. Makayla is such a skilled player and so versatile she can step up to a challenge in almost any position. She is confident under the high ball and loves to scoot out of dummy half. Makayla has excellent ball skills and knowledge of plays to pull them off confidently. The firey young star also willing steps up to tackle bigger players with a massive smile on her face.

Arizona Veca (Pittsworth girls)

Veca is a rising star at lock. She has stepped up her defensive work is and is the Danes’ best defensive player this year. Along with her incredible defence, she is a workhorse, making countless big hits.

Isabelle Duncombe (Pittsworth girls)

Duncombe is a true leader as halfback and captain of the team. She always leads by example and is an exciting player to watch with the ball in her hands. Duncombe backs up her incredible talent with a superb work rate, always giving 100 per cent for the team.

Summer Powell (Pittsworth girls)

Powell is a rising second row with the versatility to play anywhere in the forward pack. She runs the ball with intent and is defensively strong, making her a player to watch in the future.

Ethan Burgess (Pittsworth boys)

A versatile talent who can play as a five-eighth or a lock. His aggression on the field and defensive work is elite.

Jack Ruhle (Pittsworth boys)

Whether he plays as a halfback or a hooker, Ruhle dictates the game with his playmaking. He is an effective leader as he organises the troops and helps keep the forward rolling.

Jock Bradford (Pittsworth boys)

Braford is an exciting fullback who always keeps opposing defences on their toes with his support play.

Mikayia Stanton (Oakey girls)

Stanton is currently playing at hooker and has dominated the competition with her quick scoots off the ruck. Along with being an exciting attacking talent, she is a weapon in the defensive line.

Jada Wright (Oakey girls)

Wright plays in the forward pack and makes countless metres with not only her strength, but also her quick change in direction. Her impact is not just limited to her work in the forward pack as she has been on fire behind the kicking tee recently.

Alicia Montel (Oakey girls)

She may be new to the game but Montel plays like she has years of experience under her belt. Her quick-thinking and ability to shoot from the defensive line to make big tackles has made her a vital asset for the Bears.

Paige Weribone (Oakey girls)

One of the most reliable players going around, the front rower makes barnstorming runs every time she gets the ball and always makes big contact.

Carly-Jane Widgell (Oakey girls)

Widgell has made a huge impact in defence in the second row.

Peppa-Jean Collins (Oakey girls)

Another rugby league rookie, Collins has picked up the game fast on the wing. She keeps the edges closed and makes quick runs when the chances come her way.

Bailey Bennett (Oakey girls)

She is new to the game but is as rough as they come and has found her feet exceptionally well on the edges.

Kekki Burns (Oakey girls)

A big hitter out on the edge who has found her calling in the centres.

Brock Dawson (Southern Suburbs boys)

The perfect half to have in any team. An extremely smart footballer who reads the game well, along with a fantastic kicking game and fitness level that is second to none. He is always working hard on his game and very easily coached, Brock has a bright future in the game of Rugby League.

Temanu-Ariki Taahi (Southern Suburbs boys)

A true leader on the field, Temanu has a fantastic work rate. Week in week out he will top the tackle count and hit ups. With size and devastating speed, he always proves to be a headache for any opposition he comes up against. Temanu is a player to look out for in the future.

Innes Nowlan (Southern Suburbs boys)

Innes is a fantastic runner of the ball. Any space given to him on the field he will surely embarrass the opposition with deceptive speed and agility. He is training hard on his game, and seeking perfection for himself and the team, Innes leads from the front and always gives 100 per cent.

Will Ryan (Southern Suburbs boys)

Will has always been devastating with ball in hand, always leaving a trail of defenders behind him. He is surprisingly quick for his size and developing an offload every front rower needs.

Henry McMillan (Southern Suburbs boys)

A big strong country boy with a huge motor. Henry will always put his hand up for the tough stuff. He is strong in defence and a player that strikes fear into the opposition any time they come up against him. He is always working hard on his fitness and can easily play big minutes, making him the ultimate player every coach needs.

Lana O’Callaghan (Dalby girls)

Lana is a brand new player to the rugby league community. She has shown great ball skills and a fantastic tackling style. Lana gives direction and can direct the team out on the field with her attacking plays.

Lily Jones (Dalby girls)

Dalby’s powerhouse forward and 2024 captain Lily shows experience for her age despite her being one of the younger players. She is a no-nonsense player who trucks the ball up all game and defends well.

Kelsey Tibbit (Dalby girls)

Kelsey is a wildcard type of player. She defends well but can run the ball with a lot of gusto. Her speed has always been an x-factor within Dalby’s game.

Kiara Ryan (Dalby girls)

Kiara’s improvement offensively and defensively has been clear to see after every game. Her strength and speed through the line has always made sure our team comes out of trouble and puts us in good scoring position.

Joseph Beresford (Brothers boys)

Joseph is a hard running centre. He is great in defence with a good tackling technique. He loves the tough contests and plays like an extra forward for most of the game.

Beau Martin (Brothers boys)

Beau has played in a number of different positions this season and is a stand out wherever he is on the field. He is always keen to have a run and will happily take multiple hit ups in a set.

Noah Davies (Brothers boys)

Strong and fair is the best way to describe Noah. He made the commitment to be the best version of himself this season and hasn’t disappointed. Noah’s game revolves around making big hit ups and gains great metres with every run. He is also an expert at a sneaky offload.

Matilda Haig (Highfields girls)

Matilda started her journey with the Highfields three years ago as an up-and-coming hooker but has transformed into a tough tackling halfback. She leads the team around with her astute knowledge of the game and is a true rising star. The French forwards will know they have been hit by when she delivers rib-rattling tackles when she heads to Toulouse later this year.

Rhiannon Beer (Highfields girls)

The leader of a very young pack of forwards, Beer is brilliant in attack and fearsome in defence with her bone crunching tackles. She is a player who continues to develop and will also head over to France in September.

Erin Land (Highfields girls)

Every team needs a speedster in their team and when Erin turns on the afterburner, she runs like the wind leaving defenders in her wake. She has scored countless tries leaving the opposition defenders with dust in their face this season and will leave the Fench sides in her wake.

Matilda Dallinger (Highfields girls)

Matilda is the ultimate team player and although she doesn’t like the spotlight, she does all the little things in a game which make the rest of the team look good. She hits the ball up twice in every set of six and is the girl who tops the tackle count every week. Matilda is a great team player and a superb role model.

Travis Collins (Dalby boys)

Travis is a crafty hooker and picks his moments well to get points on the board. He’s great at keeping the attack organised on both sides of the field. With quick hands and a calm head, Travis gets the one percenters right to ensure his team gets on the front foot.

Lachie Edwards (Dalby boys)

Lachie is a gritty centre with speed to burn and is downright dangerous every time he has the ball in hand. He is a tight hard defender who’s not afraid to make his tackles head on. He always makes the smart read and can be counted on to lift the team from the outside backs.

Benji McCarthy (Dalby boys)

Benji is a hard hitting, strong running utility forward who gives his all for team every single week. He’s hard to tackle and never takes a backward step. Benji is new to the Devils this year and has proven himself as one of the team’s quiet achievers and is a workhorse out on the field.

Chase Price (Dalby boys)

Chase is a strong outside back who loves to tackle and can be relied on to make the crucial one-on-ones. He is a tackling machine and his enthusiasm for the game is infectious.

The extra work Chase puts in behind the scenes translates to his continuous improvement on the field.

Sedeequa Nelson (Valleys girls)

Sedeequa is a smart playmaking half. She has a strong kicking game and the ability to turn a defender inside out with her speed or passing game. Sedeequa is a threat at all times and is a great defender as well. Sedeequa represented Darling Downs in the U16 State Championships

Tayla Thomas (Valleys girls)

Tayla is at home in the forwards and the backs. A hard running and hard working player who always give 100% for the team in both attack and defence. Tayla represented Darling Downs in the U16 team State Championships

Alara Williams (Valleys girls)

Alara is another one of the teams work horses. She gets through a ton of work every game in both attack and defence and is always a threat of scoring a try every time she has the ball in hand.

Jannali Willis Duncan (Valleys girls)

Jannalia is another one of the staple players in the U15 team who can play anywhere on the park and always manages to lift for her team when needed. Jannali has proven she has the ability to score a try from anywhere on the park.

Lachlan Hillman (Valleys boys)

The captain is known for his work rate, powerful defence and talk on the field. Lachlan leads by example and is a QLD U15 representative player and captain of the QLD team.

Leroy Malone (Valleys boys)

The star fullback is a great communicator and his speed on the ball is brilliant. He can play anywhere in the backline. Leroy is a QLD U15 representative player and has also signed a deal with the Brisbane Broncos.

Hudson McDonald (Valleys boys)

Hudson is an amazing winger. He is not scared to take a hit up and move around the field at speed. Hudson is also extremely versatile and has played a number of positions this year for his team and does it to a high level every time. A great player and even better person.

Lincoln Brunner (Valleys boys)

Lincoln is a ball playing and hard running front rower. He has silky hands and the knowledge to either run the ball or tip on. Lincoln is one of team leaders and continues to improve every game.

Brydan Richards (Gatton boys)

An extremely tough and very strong defender. Brydan has the speed and strength to make a real impact getting Gatton’s sets started and scoring tries.

Marcus Buitendag (Gatton boys)

A tall rangy back rower who runs great lines and competes on every play.

Archie Larfield (Gatton boys)

A real tough competitor, a strong ball runner and never takes a backward step in defence

Cooper Crowley (Gatton boys)

Only returned to club football this year, he has shown great skills in moving into hooker and is very crafty in attack. Cooper will only continue to improve during the season.
