Downlands are the queens of the Merici-Chevalier Cup again.
With more than 500 supporters lining every vantage point around the Sacré Coeur Sports Centre on Friday, Downlands secured a 29-23 win over rivals St Ursula’s in the annual schoolgirls netball showdown.
“I was really impressed with how well the girls did against a very good St Ursula’s,” Downlands College head of sport Jorden Smith said.
“It wasn’t easy, St Ursula’s were impressive, they really had to work for it.
“This win is the result of a lot of hard work not just this year but in the past few as well.
“The girls have been really good this season at QISSN and in the Vicki Wilson off the back of a lot of jhard work.
“But this current group of girls, they’ve been part of the changes we’ve made to our netball program over the last few years and they’re starting to see the benefits of it.
“We’re really proud of how well they did on Friday.”
