Warwick’s perfect season still in tact
It has been a simply remarkable campaign for the Warwick Cowboys A-grade and Reserve grade sides as they have both shot out to a 13-0 start.
In A-grade, Warwick was rarely troubled as they put in a classy performance to claim a 48-6 win.
Meanwhile the reserves claimed a win in similar fashion as they defeated Highfields 46-10.
With just five games left in the season before finals, there is an ever-increasing chance that both sides could have an invincible campaign.
Lions stun Eagles
Just when it seemed like there wouldn’t be any further twists in the women’s competition before finals, Newtown kept its hopes of making a finals run alive with a stunning 22-6 win over Highfields.
Only three weeks ago, it was the Eagles who outsoared the reigning premiers Gatton with a solid win and only two weeks ago, the Lions suffered a 42-14 defeat to Gatton.
However, last year’s runners-up showed their class and are now a side no one will want to face in the run home.
Under-19 minor premiership in the balance
This year more than any other year before, there is an added incentive for sides to push for the minor premiership, with the Presidents’ Cups and Madsen-Rasmussen Cup up for grabs.
This year’s under-19 race for the President’s Cup is set to go down to the wire with three teams all level on 16 points.
Dalby, Valleys and Brothers have all won eight of their 10 games and with Dalby taking on both of their top three counterparts in the final rounds of the season, the minor premiership is anyone’s for the taking.
Diehards come up clutch again
For the second week in a row, Dalby’s A-grade side scored a clutch try in the dying stages of the clash to steal a victory from the grasps of defeat.
In round 12, Dalby needed two late tries to overcome Pittsworth and this week, the reigning premiers needed a try from Hunter James in the 76th minute to claim a two-point win over Goondiwindi.
