We reveal the top 10 performers from round 3 of the Toowoomba Cricket one-day competition

After an action-packed round of Toowoomba Cricket, we reveal our top 10 individual performances from the weekend’s action. Find out which C-grade star topped our round 3 list here.

The Toowoomba cricket one-day season is back and we are highlighting the players who shone the brightest of them all each week.

We have cast our eye across all the Round 3 senior action from A-grade to C-grade to reveal our top 10 individual performances from the round.

10. Connor Ward (West B-grade)

Ward was standout in Wests comfortable six wicket win over Met-Easts White.

With the ball he took 1-12 off three overs before laying the platform for his side’s win with an unbeaten 59 off 119 balls at the top of the order.

9. Patrick Turner (Highfields Railways Reserves)

Souths won a thriller at Middle Ridge Park but Turner did everything he possibly could to get Railways over the line.

Turner rocked the Magpies middle order taking 3-30 in an economical eight over spell with the ball.

The Railways skipper then steadied the ship with bat following a middle order collapse.

With his side chasing 160 for victory, Turner produced a resilient 33 not out off 52 balls batting at No.8.

8. Pieter Van Der Kooij (Met-Easts Reserves)

Met-Easts have Hugh Mansfield and Van Der Kooij to thanks for their win at the weekend.

Alongside Craig Skuse (20 runs) the pair were pair were the only Mets bats to reach double figures with Kooij hitting 78 in the middle with Mets posting 187 runs

Mets’ bowlers tore through the Northern Brothers Diggers batting lining – rolling them for just 89 runs – but things could’ve been a lot different without Kooij.

7. Nicholas Sheedy (Wests Reserves)

Sheedy got Wests off to the perfect start hitting an impressive 87 off 98 balls at the top of the order.

Chasing 216 to win University cruised to victory with six wickets in hand but Sheedy can hold his head high.

6. Sachin Premchandran (Souths Currawong C-grade)

Premchandran was the pick of the batters in what proved to be a solid team performance from Souths.

Batting at No. 4 Premchandran top scored with 78 off 59 balls – hitting nine fours and four sixes.

5. Matthew Walls (University Reserves)

The skipper belted Wests to all corner hitting 98 off just 49 balls before he was run out.

Walls hit six fours and eight sixes during his near century innings.

4. Doug Arthur (Wests C-grade)

It was a big weekend for the bowlers with Arthur among the best of them.

Arthur finished with 5-31 off 7.3 overs against Met-Easts Red.

3. Michael Evans (University A-grade)

The University bowler tore through Wests taking 5-26 off 8 overs.

2. Kris Glass (Northern Brothers Diggers A-grade)

There was no stopping the Diggers opener at the weekend.

Glass finished on 110 not out off 98 balls hitting eight fours and four sixes on his way to a top notch century.

1. Darcy Kelly (Wests Downlands C-grade)

Kelly tore through the Highfields Bulldogs batting line up taking 6-18 off 8 overs.

Round 2

10. Harry Winterbottom (Souths Ravens, B-grade)

Winterbottom kicks off this week’s list after his impressive 4-25 from eight overs to help the Ravens a victory in their clash with the Souths Magpies.

9. Tim Brett (Souths Magpies, C-grade)

Brett impressed with the ball for the Magpies as he ripped through the Currawongs middle order, taking 4-21 from five overs.

8. Gurnoor Singh Randhawa (Souths, A-grade)

Gurnoor Singh Randhawa was a game-changer for the Magpies with bat and ball, making crucial contributions in both areas of the contest.

As opener, he scored a solid 30 runs from 41 balls to help lay down the foundations for his side’s run chase.

The University batters had no answer for his work with the ball as he took 3-20 off nine overs and operated at an economy rate of just 2.22 runs per over.

7. Brenton Rouhan (Souths Currawongs, C-grade)

While it was not enough to help his side claim victory, Rouhan was at his scintillating best with the bat for the Currawongs.

With wickets falling around him, he remained calm and collected at the crease, scoring an unbeaten 85 runs from 102 balls, in a stint which included 14 fours and two sixes.

6. Matthew Gurr (Souths Ravens, C-grade)

After a back and forth start to the contest between University and the Ravens, Matthew Gurr changed the game when he made his way to the popping crease at 2-51.

The Souths batter showcased his class as he kept the run-rate ticking over – making 84 runs from 77 balls.

5. Jack Leavy (Souths Magpies, C-grade)

The Southern Districts trend continues to number five on this list after Jake Leavy’s stunning display against the Souths Currawongs.

With his side needing 199 for victory, Leavy left nothing to chance, scoring an explosive 78 runs from 48 balls.

Striking at 162.5, the Magpies enforcer hist nine fours and five maximums to help his side to victory with almost 12 overs to spare

4. Andrew Catlow (University, C-grade)

Catlow put in a heroic batting performance for the University Phoenix, yet it was still not enough for his side to come close to challenging for victory.

Opening the batting, he withstood the new ball and spearheaded his side’s run-chase.

However, while he unstoppable with the bat, his teammates struggled against the dominance of the Ravens bowling attack, with wickets regularly falling around him and the opener was ultimately left stranded on 95 not-out at the end of the innings.

3. Rob Fenwick (Northern Brothers, C-grade)

Fenwick was at his explosive best for Northern Brothers, scoring 91 runs from 59 balls, in a stint which included 17 fours and two maximums.

2. Hugh Mansfield (Met-Easts, B-grade)

Mansfield was the pick of the batters this week, scoring the solitary century from the senior clashes as he made 106 runs from 74 balls.

1. Harold Shelton (University, Reserve grade)

Shelton takes the top spot this week after a scintillating bowling performance, while adding handy runs with the bat.

With the ball, he took 5-23 from seven overs which was almost enough for University to claim a win, if not for some late heroics from Souths.

Batting last, Shelton scored a handy 20 runs to combine for a 52-run final wicket stand which helped give Uni a chance as they went from 9-113 to all out for 165 batting first.

Round 1

10. Michael Holzl and Lachlan Muggleton (Souths Magpies and Met-Easts Gold, B-grade)

There was absolutely nothing to separate Michael Holzl and Lachlan Muggleton this week as they both scored 100 runs off 100 balls in performances which helped their side to victory.

9. Connor Walker (University A-grade)

Walker produced a matchwinning performance with the bat as he took on the Highfields attack at the top of the order.

Striking at 122.09 on his way to 105 runs, Walker was in control throughout his innings as he laid down the foundation for his side to reach 6-258 at the end of the 45 overs.

8. Dev Trivedi (Uni Phoenix, C-grade)

The first of the bowlers to make this list, Trivedi’s five-over spell was action-packed as he took 5-24, including a wicket-maiden and also found himself on a hat-trick at one stage, but could not convert the hat-trick ball.

7. Brendan Ziebell (Northern Brothers Diggers Blue, B-grade)

Highfields already faced the tough task of chasing down 318 for victory and the challenge was made all the more difficult by a rampaging Ziebell.

The Northern Brothers bowler took 5-23 off seven overs, dismissing the entire top five of the Bulldogs batting order.

6. Darcy Shelton (University, Reserve grade)

Shelton was on fire with bat and ball against Highfields as he scored 84 runs from 108 balls as opener and then backed it up with a handy 2-15 from four overs.

5. Daniel Pollock (Met-Easts, A-grade)

Pollock produced a superb captain’s performance as he set the tone for the season with 72 runs from 95 balls before coming in clutch with three wickets in the second innings to help his side to a thrilling win over Southern Districts and 3-52.

4. Brian May (Wests, A-grade)

It may be a new season of cricket in the Garden City but some things never change no matter what year it is.

Brian May was in vintage form in the season opener as he scored an unbeaten 98 runs and also made his impact felt in the field, as he took three catches and picked up two wickets.

3. David Kenway (Northern Brothers Diggers Blue, B-grade)

Kenway was a class above for the Dragons as he scored an incredible 118 runs off just 67 balls.

With a strike-rate of 176.11, Kenway smashed an incredible 11 sixes and eight fours with 98 of his runs coming from boundaries.

2. Kahlem Reardon (Met-Easts, Reserve grade)

Reardon produced the bowling performance of the round as he tore through the Magpies batting order.

The Met-Easts all-rounder took 6-19 from his eight-over spell which included three maidens.

However, despite helping to bowl Souths out for 153, it was not enough as the Trojans fell 27 runs short in response.

1. Hugo Cavanagh (Met-Easts Gold, B-grade)

It may only be Round 1 of the one-day season, but Hugo Cavanagh may already lay claim to the best individual performance of this summer.

With the bat, he scored a simply astonishing 171 runs from 116 balls, hitting 22 fours and four sixes along the way.

However, after scoring his unforgettable innings which saw him in the middle for 239 of the 240 balls, as he was dismissed on the penultimate delivery of the inning.

He proved that fatigue was no issue for him as he took 2-22 from 5.1 overs to help his side claim a 129-run victory over University.
