We name our top Toowoomba league performers from round 13

Toowoomba Rugby League’s A-grade contenders stamped their authority on the competition at the weekend with big wins.

Lead by their star players the top four – Warwick, Gatton, Valleys and Wattles – all secured massive wins while Dalby edged out Goondiwindi in a thriller.

Here’s our look at the top 10 individual performances from the weekend and 10 other players who deserve and honourable mention.

Double delight

Luke Self (Gatton A-grade), Tyson Stevens (Wattles A-grade), Matthew Christensen (Wattles A-grade), Marley Tunstead (Wattles Reserves), Eamon Brownlie (Warwick Reserves), Patrick Nolan (Gatton U19s), Thomas Fry (Souths U19s), Akira Kelly (Newtown Women), Rikki-Lee Boney (Valleys Women) and Emma-Lea Herridge (Brothers Women) all scored doubles for their teams at the weekend.

10. Joseph Willett (Wattles A-grade)

With space out wide and speed to burn Willett made the most of his chances against Brothers at the weekend.

The Wattles winger scored a hat-trick in his side’s 62-12 win.

9. Allan Morris (Gatton Reserves)

The hard running second rower found the try line with ease against Oakey Bears.

Morris scored three tries in his side’s 50-0 win.

8. Cory McGrady (Valleys A-grade)

McGrady played a leading hand in Valleys 56-16 win over Souths.

The star halfback expertly steered his team round the park and scored three tries.

7. Braydon Wilson (Wattles Reserves)

The talented centre had a day out against Brothers.

Wilson scored three tries in his side’s 38-0 win.

6. Brock Diment (Valleys A-grade)

The fleet footed Roosters fullback was the star of the show in his side’s easy win over Southern Suburbs Tigers.

Diment scored three tries and kicked five conversions in Valleys 56-16 win.

5. Tait Cameron (Souths U19s)

Souths and Valleys combined for a seven thriller at Gold Park on Sunday morning.

While his Tigers crossed the line four times in the match it was Cameron’s boot that ultimately decided the outcome.

The young hooker kicked two conversions and two penalties to help his side secure a 24-18 win.

4. Micky Hazard (Goondiwindi A-grade)

The crafty halfback was the Boars star performer in their thrilling 36-34 loss to reigning premiers Dalby Diehards.

Hazard scored a try and kicked five conversions for his team.

3. Hunter James (Dalby A-grade)

The Diehards arguably produced a man of the match performance in his side’s win over Goondiwindi Boars scoring a third of his side’s points.

The speedy winger crossed the line three times to help guide his side to a thrilling 36-34 win.

2. Thomas Luhrmann (Gatton A-grade)

Scooting out of dummy half and expertly steering his team around the park on Saturday, Luhrmann had a big day out against Oakey Bears.

The Hawks hooker scored four tries in his side’s convincing 70-6 win at home.

1. Tye Gray (Gatton)

Tye Gray was part ironman, part impact star for Gatton Hawks at the weekend.

The crafty fullback saw plenty of game time starting for the Hawks Reserves and featuring off the bench in A-grade.

Gray made the most of his opportunities – playing a key role in both Hawks wins against the Oakey Bears.

In Reserve Grade he picked up a double in Gatton’s 50-0 win and scored in the 75th minute in his 70-6 A-grade victory.
