We rank the top 10 Toowoomba junior cricket performances from Round 4

The 2024-25 junior cricket season is underway with several young guns making their mark with the bat and ball. We have analysed all the clashes to reveal our top 10 individual performances from Round 4. See which junior stars made the list here.

The Toowoomba junior cricket season kicked off over the weekend, with the future Darling Downs cricketing stars battling it out at the crease.

From Stage 1 to Stage 3, we have analysed every single performance from the junior competitions to rank our top 10 junior players of the week as well as some honourable mentions.

See who made the list from your club below

Honourable mentions include Hugo Stearn (Met-Easts TGS Hurricanes), Caelan McNicol (Wests Downlands), Molly Harrison (Toowoomba Girls’ Cricket Hub), James Allan (Souths Magpies), William Dickfos (Souths Magpies), Will Dewar (Souths Currawongs) and Patrick Parker (Highfields Strikers).

Round 4

10. Angus Hayward (West Wolves, Stage 2 Blue)

Hayward kicks off our top 10 thanks to a faultless performance with the ball.

In three overs, he bowled three maidens and took three wickets to end with stellar figures of 3-0.

9. Leo Merritt (Uni Bush Chooks, Stage 2 Red)

Merrit was explosive with the bat as he scored 47 runs from just 24 balls, hitting five fours and two sixes along the way.

He also took one wicket to cap off a stellar performance.

8. Corben Moodie (Souths Magpies, Stage 2 Red)

Moodie was all class with the bat, scoring 42 runs from 35 balls.

With the ball, he barely put a foot wrong, taking 2-8.

7. Harvey Wilson (Highfields Bulls, Stage 2 Blue)

Wilson’s all-round game was on full show as he took three wickets and scored an unbeaten 29.

6. Oscar Rickuss (Met-Easts Heat, Stage 2 Blue)

Rickuss was another who stepped up with the bat and ball as he took 3-25 and scored 31 runs.

5. Charlie Lane (Met-Easts TGS Hearts, Stage 3)

Lane takes out the first spot in our top five thanks to a stellar effort with the bat and impressive bowling display.

He scored an unbeaten 48 runs from 31 balls and took 2-10.

4. Ripley Wood (Met-Easts Thunder, Stage 2 Blue)

Ripley Wood is fourth on this week’s list after his impressive 61 runs from 59 balls.

3. Liam Burges (Souths Magpies, Stage 2 Red)

Burges returns to our top 10 after another scintillating display as he scored 63 runs off just 35 balls.

Striking at 180, he smashed five fours and six sixes.

2. Boston Free (Souths Crows, Stage 2 Blue)

The bowlers take out our top spots this week after two sensational efforts with the ball.

Free is a close runner-up after he took 4-3 from two overs.

1. Marcus Barrett (Souths Currawongs, Stage 2 Blue)

Barrett is our top junior star from round 4 after his electric bowling performance and solid effort with the bat.

With the ball, he took 4-6, but after adding 19 runs with the bat, he sneaks ahead of Free to earn the number 1 spot.

Round 3

Honourable mentions include Charlie French (Pittsworth Millmerran), Amelia Kuhn (Toowoomba Girls’ Cricket Hub), Thomas Hindle (Highfields Renegades), Elizabeth Byron (Toowoomba Girls’ Cricket Hub) and Toby Dearling (Oakey Caramellos).

20. Madeline Folker (Millmerran, Stage 1 Blue)

Young gun Madeline Folker kicks off this week’s list at number 20 as she took 3-14 and scored 10 runs.

19. Alexander Martyr (Highfields Bulls, Stage 2 Blue)

Alexander Marty produced a solid all-round performance, taking 3-12 and scoring 12 runs from 25 balls.

18. Charlie Nichol (Met Easts TAS Stars, Stage 1 Blue)

Nichol took 3-9 from three overs and scored 11 runs from 17 balls.

17. Hunter Humphery (Millmerran, Stage 1 Red)

Opposing batters had no answer for Humphery as he took 3-3 from just two overs and also scored a handy 10 runs from 15 balls.

16. Aayan Khatiwada (Souths Crows, Stage 1 Red)

Aayan Khatiwada was a force to be reckoned with, taking two wickets and scoring a quickfire 26 runs from 17 balls.

15. Harrison Sawtell (Met-Easts Sixers, Stage 1 Blue)

Sawtell took 3-13 with the ball and also chipped in with the bat, scoring a solid 15 runs.

14. Flynn Jacobs (Highfields Renegades, Stage 2 Blue)

Jacobs takes 14th place after his impressive all-round effort which included bowling figures of 3-6 and 18 runs from 22 balls with the bat.

13. Stuart Coonan (Pittsworth Millmerran, Stage 2 Red)

Coonan produced a solid batting performance.

The Pittsworth Millmerran batter was explosive with the bat, as he scored 45 runs from just 25 balls, with two fours and four sixes.

12. Noah Kucks (Oakey Caramellos, Stage 2 Red)

Kucks impressed in both areas of the game as he scored an unbeaten 31 runs from 35 balls and also picked up two wickets off just 1.3 overs.

11. Xavier Carson (Souths Ravens, Stage 1 Red)

Carson showed class with bat and ball as he took 3-13 and scored 34 runs from just 18 balls.

10. Caelan McNicol (Western Districts Downlands Gold, Stage 3)

There was very little to split the next three players with all three players scoring half centuries.

McNicol scored 50 from 37 balls at a strike-rate of 135.13.

9. Alexsander Fitzsimons (Met Easts TAS, Stage 2 Blue)

Fitzsimons scored an impressive 51 runs from just 35 balls.

8. Emmy Cussons (TGCH, Stage 2 Red)

Cussons earns a spot in our list for the second time this season after notching up another half century on the weekend as she scored an unbeaten 50 from 32 balls.

7. Hugo Smith (Met-Easts TGS Hearts, Stage 3)

Smith was one of the leading bowlers from the weekend as he took 4-11.

6. James Allan (Souths Magpies, Stage 2 Red)

Allan scored an unbeaten 40 runs from 36 balls and also took 2-10.

5. Nicholas Adams (Highfields Bulldogs, Stage 2 Red)

Nicholas Adams kicks off the top five for this week after his electric all-round performance.

His batting was a joy to behold as he smashed his way to an unbeaten 41 from just 12 balls, hitting two fours and five sixes along the way.

Adams’ impact was felt with the ball as well as he took 3-3 from two overs.

4. Liam McHugh (Souths Crows, Stage 2 Blue)

McHugh was a force to be reckoned with for the Crows, taking 4-7 from just three overs and scoring a handy 21 runs from 20 balls.

3. Xavier Knight (Oakey Sleepy Bears, Stage 1 Blue)

Xavier Knight features on the podium this week after he took 4-3 and scored 24 runs off 15 balls.

2. Reyaaz Nagarkoti (Souths Magpies, Stage 2 Blue)

Reyaaz Nagarkoti fell agonisingly close to take the top spot on the list this week but can still take pride in an exceptional all-round performance.

The all-rounder took 3-19 from four overs and scored 62 runs from 49 balls.

1. Healey Irwin (Souths Magpies, Stage 1 Blue)

Irwin takes top spot on the list thanks to an impressive bowling performance and a jaw-dropping effort with the bat.

Facing just 15 balls, the Souths youngster scored an unbelievable 54 runs at a strike-rate of 360, hitting two fours and a whopping seven maximums along the way.

Irwin also impressed with the ball, taking 3-7 from two overs.

ROUND 2

15. Xavier Carson (Souths Ravens, Stage 1 Red)

Batting down the order Carson top scored for the Ravens hitting 38 off just 17 balls including six fours and a six.

14. Charlie French (Pittsworth Millmerran, Stage 2 Red)

Batting at four, French scored 42 at nearly a run a ball.

The young batter hit four fours and a six in his innings.

13. Joseph Black (University Bush Chooks, Stage 2 Red)

Batting at first drop, Black finished off as Uni’s top scorer.

He hit 41 not out off 34 balls.

12. Reyaaz Nagarkoti (Souths Magpies, Stage 2 Blue)

Nagarkoti scored exactly half his side’s runs and was the only Magpies player to reach double figures.

Opening the batting he hit 44 off 34 including five fours and two sixes.

11. Healey Irwin (Souths Magpies, Stage 1 Blue)

Irwin spread his wings and flew for the Magpies scoring 42 runs off just 17 balls. The young opener hit eight fours and a six in his exciting innings.

10. Sebastian Slader (Met-Easts Heat, Stage 1 Blue)

Lining up in the middle order, Slader put on a show with the bat hitting the ball at a strike rate of 323.

He fell just short of a half century – hitting nine fours and a six on his way to 42 runs off 13 balls.

9. Cooper Smith (Wests Downlands, Stage 2 Blue)

Smith hit three fours and three sixes on his way to 39 off 30 balls.

Hamish Rae (Souths Magpies, Stage 2 Blue)

It was a short and effective spell with the ball for Rae who took 2-1 off 1.4 overs.

8. Edward Humphery (Met-Easts TAS Stars, Stage 1 Blue)

Humphery bowled a tight and sharp spell taking 3-12 off three overs.

7. Charles Peart (Met-Easts TGS Scorchers, Stage 2 Red)

The Met-Easts TGS Strikers struggled with Peart’s deliveries at the weekend.

The Scorchers bowler finished with an impressive 3-7 off four overs.

6. Nate McLoughlin, Charlie Suey, Daniel Giumelli, Kaiden Philp (NBD Might Dragons, Stage 3)

It was too hard to separate this Mighty Dragons quartet.

All four players scored impressive half centuries – McLoughlin (50), Suey (52), Giumelli (50) and Philp (52).

5. Leon Holstein (Wests Downlands, Stage 1 Blue)

Holstein cleaned up the Pittsworth batting line-up taking 4-11 off five overs.

4. Shubhdeep Brar (Souths Currawongs, Stage 2 Blue)

The opener hit a blistering 54 off just 45 balls.

More than half his runs came from boundaries with Brar hitting eight fours in his innings.

3. Yuvi Patel (Souths Magpies, Stage 2 Red)

Patel produced a stunning middle order cameo scoring 60 off 35 including six fours and four sixes.

2. Harrison Barbe (Wests Downlands, Stage 2 Blue)

Batting in the middle order, Barbe scored an impressive 43 off 25 balls including seven fours and a six.

Barbe also took 3-16 with the ball.

1. Liam Burges (Souths Magpies, Stage 2 Red)

It is back-to-back number one rankings for Burges after another massive weekend.

Opening the batting for Magpies struck the ball at 243.13 scoring 124 not out of just 51 balls.

Burges hit nine fours and 12 sixes in the stunning knock.

He impressed with the ball also taking 3-3 off two overs.

ROUND 1

Honourable mentions: Elizabeth Byron (TGCH Typhoons, Stage 2 Blue), Lucy Mills (TGCH Falcons, Stage 2 Red), Frederick Bellert (Oakey Drop, Bears Stage 3), Finlay Lockwood (Western Districts, Stage 3)

15. Daniel Giumelli (Northern Brothers Diggers, Stage 3)

Giumelli kicks off the top 15 for this season with an impressive unbeaten 50 from just 31 balls, which included six fours and two maximums.

14. Amelia Kuhn (TGCH Falcons, Stage 2 Red)

Kuhn takes 14th place this week after her impressive 53 runs from 35 balls.

She was one of three Falcons players to reach the half century mark with Mills and Emmy Cussons both raising the bat after impressive batting performances.

13. Jordan Drover (Northern Brothers Diggers, Stage 3)

Drover brought high-octane action with the bat for the Dragons as he blasted boundaries everywhere on his way to an unbeaten 50 off just 24 balls.

With five fours and four sixes, if there was a ball in his zone he sent it to the ropes.

12. Austin Beadle (Met-Easts, Stage 2 Red)

Beadle showed his patience and calmness with the bat in hand as he anchored the innings for the Met-Easts TGS Sixers, scoring an unbeaten 41 runs from 65 balls while wickets fell around him.

With the ball, he didn’t dictate the contest to the same level as he did with the bat, but still made his mark, taking 1-12 off three overs.

11. Charles Barwick (Met-Easts, Stage 3)

Bowling first, Barwick had a solid start as he took 1-15 off two overs against a rampaging Western Districts batting line-up.

He then went to another level with the bat, as he spearheaded the Trojans batting line-up, scoring 45 runs from 51 balls.

10. Samuel Folker (Pittsworth Millmerran, Stage 2 Red)

Folker was a man on a mission with the bat as he scored 44 runs off just 25 balls, hitting seven boundaries along the way.

He then made his mark with the ball, as he took 1-5 off two overs.

9. Adrian Jones (Highfields, Stage 1 Red)

Jones missed out on eighth place by the barest of margins in our list but was still one of the leading bowlers in Toowoomba junior cricket on the weekend.

He was dominant with the ball, taking 4-6 from three overs and also scored a handy 12 runs with the bat for good measure.

8. Luke Lawson (Highfields, Stage 1 Blue)

Lawson was one of the best bowlers in this week’s list as opposing batters seemingly had no answer for him as he ended with figures of 4-3 and also chipped in with 12 runs.

7. Xavier Carson (Souths Magpies, Stage 1 Red)

There was not much separating our sixth and seventh players on this list but Carson just misses out on sixth place.

He took a solid 2-21 with the ball and was on fire with the bat as he scored 40 runs off just 27 balls.

6. Riley Scheuerle (Oakey Caramellos, Stage 2 Red)

The Oakey young gun produced an impressive all-round display but it wasn’t quite enough for him to make his way into our top five, with some exceptional individual efforts taking those spots.

Scheuerle scored 43 runs from 34 balls and boasted bowling figures of 2-5.

5. Beau Boyes (Pittsworth Millmerran, Stage 1 Red)

What a breathtaking batting display this was from Boyes.

He faced just 20 balls but made maximum impact as he smashed an unbeaten 56 runs.

With 13 boundaries, including one six, the bowlers had no answer for Boyes as he punished them at every given chance.

To cap it all off, his bowling was elite as he ended with figures of 1-5 from four overs.

4. Tate Watson (Souths Magpies, Stage 1 Red)

Watson was immense with bat and ball for the Magpies with two strong contributions.

With the bat, he scored 36 runs off just 20 balls, hitting five boundaries along the way and picked up four wickets.

3. Ruiz Francis Dwyer (Highfields, Stage 1 Red)

The pick of the bowlers this week, Ruiz Francis Dwyer was in the conversation for the top spot on our list but can still take a deserved third place.

With his side bowling first, Dwyer spearheaded the Highfields bowling attack as he took a stunning 5-10 off just four overs.

With the bat, he showed his class and poise as he made 19 runs from 28 balls to help his side to a narrow win over Millmerran.

2. Emmy Cussons (TGCH Falcons, Stage 2 Red)

The Toowoomba Girls’ Cricket Hub youngster was on fire and very nearly picked up our top spot on this list if not for another sensational display narrowly outclassing her.

Cussons’ batting was a joy to behold as she cruised her way to an unbeaten 72 runs from 58 balls.

She then chipped in with the ball, taking 1-18.

1. Liam Burges (Souths Magpies, Stage 2 Red)

Burges takes our number one spot this week after a simple stunning performance with the bat and ball.

Batting first, the Souths opener was relentless as he scored a boundary almost one in every two balls.

With 13 fours and three sixes, Burges was unstoppable on his way to 74 runs from just 35.

However, while it would have been easy for him to rest for the rest of the day after scoring runs at a scintillating strike-rate of 211.42, he was not done yet.

In his two-over bowling spell, he bowled two maidens and picked up a wicket to end with stunning figures of 1-0.
