The Toowoomba junior cricket season kicked off over the weekend, with the future Darling Downs cricketing stars battling it out at the crease.

From Stage 1 to Stage 3, we have analysed every single performance from the junior competitions to rank our top 15 junior players of the week as well as some honourable mentions.

See who made the list from your club below

Honourable mentions: Elizabeth Byron (TGCH Typhoons, Stage 2 Blue), Lucy Mills (TGCH Falcons, Stage 2 Red), Frederick Bellert (Oakey Drop, Bears Stage 3), Finlay Lockwood (Western Districts, Stage 3)

15. Daniel Giumelli (Northern Brothers Diggers, Stage 3)

Giumelli kicks off the top 15 for this season with an impressive unbeaten 50 from just 31 balls, which included six fours and two maximums.

14. Amelia Kuhn (TGCH Falcons, Stage 2 Red)

Kuhn takes 14th place this week after her impressive 53 runs from 35 balls.

She was one of three Falcons players to reach the half century mark with Mills and Emmy Cussons both raising the bat after impressive batting performances.

13. Jordan Drover (Northern Brothers Diggers, Stage 3)

Drover brought high-octane action with the bat for the Dragons as he blasted boundaries everywhere on his way to an unbeaten 50 off just 24 balls.

With five fours and four sixes, if there was a ball in his zone he sent it to the ropes.

12. Austin Beadle (Met-Easts, Stage 2 Red)

Beadle showed his patience and calmness with the bat in hand as he anchored the innings for the Met-Easts TGS Sixers, scoring an unbeaten 41 runs from 65 balls while wickets fell around him.

With the ball, he didn’t dictate the contest to the same level as he did with the bat, but still made his mark, taking 1-12 off three overs.

11. Charles Barwick (Met-Easts, Stage 3)

Bowling first, Barwick had a solid start as he took 1-15 off two overs against a rampaging Western Districts batting line-up.

He then went to another level with the bat, as he spearheaded the Trojans batting line-up, scoring 45 runs from 51 balls.

10. Samuel Folker (Pittsworth Millmerran, Stage 2 Red)

Folker was a man on a mission with the bat as he scored 44 runs off just 25 balls, hitting seven boundaries along the way.

He then made his mark with the ball, as he took 1-5 off two overs.

9. Adrian Jones (Highfields, Stage 1 Red)

Jones missed out on eighth place by the barest of margins in our list but was still one of the leading bowlers in Toowoomba junior cricket on the weekend.

He was dominant with the ball, taking 4-6 from three overs and also scored a handy 12 runs with the bat for good measure.

8. Luke Lawson (Highfields, Stage 1 Blue)

Lawson was one of the best bowlers in this week’s list as opposing batters seemingly had no answer for him as he ended with figures of 4-3 and also chipped in with 12 runs.

7. Xavier Carson (Souths Magpies, Stage 1 Red)

There was not much separating our sixth and seventh players on this list but Carson just misses out on sixth place.

He took a solid 2-21 with the ball and was on fire with the bat as he scored 40 runs off just 27 balls.

6. Riley Scheuerle (Oakey Caramellos, Stage 2 Red)

The Oakey young gun produced an impressive all-round display but it wasn’t quite enough for him to make his way into our top five, with some exceptional individual efforts taking those spots.

Scheuerle scored 43 runs from 34 balls and boasted bowling figures of 2-5.

5. Beau Boyes (Pittsworth Millmerran, Stage 1 Red)

What a breathtaking batting display this was from Boyes.

He faced just 20 balls but made maximum impact as he smashed an unbeaten 56 runs.

With 13 boundaries, including one six, the bowlers had no answer for Boyes as he punished them at every given chance.

To cap it all off, his bowling was elite as he ended with figures of 1-5 from four overs.

4. Tate Watson (Souths Magpies, Stage 1 Red)

Watson was immense with bat and ball for the Magpies with two strong contributions.

With the bat, he scored 36 runs off just 20 balls, hitting five boundaries along the way and picked up four wickets.

3. Ruiz Francis Dwyer (Highfields, Stage 1 Red)

The pick of the bowlers this week, Ruiz Francis Dwyer was in the conversation for the top spot on our list but can still take a deserved third place.

With his side bowling first, Dwyer spearheaded the Highfields bowling attack as he took a stunning 5-10 off just four overs.

With the bat, he showed his class and poise as he made 19 runs from 28 balls to help his side to a narrow win over Millmerran.

2. Emmy Cussons (TGCH Falcons, Stage 2 Red)

The Toowoomba Girls’ Cricket Hub youngster was on fire and very nearly picked up our top spot on this list if not for another sensational display narrowly outclassing her.

Cussons’ batting was a joy to behold as she cruised her way to an unbeaten 72 runs from 58 balls.

She then chipped in with the ball, taking 1-18.

1. Liam Burges (Souths Magpies, Stage 2 Red)

Burges takes our number one spot this week after a simple stunning performance with the bat and ball.

Batting first, the Souths opener was relentless as he scored a boundary almost one in every two balls.

With 13 fours and three sixes, Burges was unstoppable on his way to 74 runs from just 35.

However, while it would have been easy for him to rest for the rest of the day after scoring runs at a scintillating strike-rate of 211.42, he was not done yet.

In his two-over bowling spell, he bowled two maidens and picked up a wicket to end with stunning figures of 1-0.
