Sunshine Coast company collapses: Builders, restaurants shut down in 2025
More than 15 Sunshine Coast companies have collapsed this year, from local builders to cafes, with millions owed to creditors. See the list.
From local builders to a high-end grocery store and the company behind a series of Noosa cafes, more than 15 Sunshine Coast companies closed their doors in the past 12 months.
These are the companies that collapsed in 2025:
CMB Lawyers (Australia) Pty Ltd
The Mountain Creek-based company, CMB Lawyers (Australia) Pty Ltd, was liquidated by a court order in September 2025.
ASIC documents show CMB Lawyers (Australia) was led by director, Clinton Mark Bothma, since it began trading in 2018.
The Deputy Commissioner of Taxation applied in the federal court to have the company wound up and liquidated in July 2025.
According to the ASIC notice, liquidator Alice Fay Ruhe, from SMB Advisory, was officially appointed to wind the company up on September 19.
Mr Bothma is also the director of a separate company Lawbly Pty Ltd, ASIC documents show, which continues to operate the law firm business CMB Lawyers, which is still trading.
It is not suggested Lawbly Pty Ltd is involved in the winding up and subsequent liquidation of CMB Lawyers (Australia) Pty Ltd.
According to the report, the largest debt is owed to Prospa with an estimated $140,000 in secured debts.
An estimated $4323 is owed to Infotrack, $785 to a creditor named LPE and $533 to a separate creditor, 1300 Australia Pty Ltd.
Immackulate Pty Ltd
The family-owned company, Immackulate Pty Ltd, operated the business Immackulate Designer Homes, according to the Australia Business Register.
The Marcoola-based company was placed into liquidation on November 19, with Anne Meagher appointed to complete the creditors’ voluntary winding up.
Australian Securities and Investments Commission documents show the company was directed by a father and sons team including, Currimundi man, Kenneth Ronald Mackenzie, Buddina man Mitchall Barry Mackenzie and Noosa Heads man Matthew Kenneth Mackenzie.
It is not yet known the debt figures, if any, owed by the company to possible creditors.
Richmond Labour Hire Pty Ltd
A Sunshine Coast director has placed his labour hire company into liquidation, less than two years after the collapse of his separate contracting company.
The company, Richmond Labour Hire Pty Ltd, was placed into liquidation, with Jarvis Archer appointed to complete the winding up.
Richmond Labour Hire was first registered in May 2024, the Australian Securities and Investments Commission documents show.
According to documents filed with the corporate regulator, the company is estimated to owe about $941,301 to the Australian Taxation Office and $3510 to WorkCover.
There was also a projected debt of $209,715 owed to the ATO for a super guarantee charge, according to the report on creditors.
The documents state the company has about $1.32m in assets, which are listed as coming from sundry debtors.
In-Struct Projects Pty Ltd
A Sunshine Coast builder specialising in commercial work has collapsed after the tax office took action to wind up the company in court.
The company In-Struct Projects Pty Ltd, which formerly traded as BTJ Constructions, was placed into liquidation, an Australian Securities and Investments Commission notice stated.
The notice shows In-Struct Projects was placed into liquidation following an application to wind the entity up, filed by the Australian Taxation Office, in the Federal Court.
Liquidator Mitchell Herrett was ultimately appointed by the court to complete the winding up.
ASIC documents show the company was directed by Nirimba man Benjamin Grey Adam Jell and was first registered in July 2018, with the name start date listed as July 2020.
Mr Jell had acted as the company director since November 2020, according to the documents.
Hermosa Restaurants and Services Pty Ltd
Australian Securities and Investments Commission documents show the company, Hermosa Restaurants and Services Pty Ltd, was placed into liquidation on October 31, 2025.
The company’s director is listed as Noosaville man, Carlos Alberto Vanselow Filho, a role he has held since the company began trading in June this year.
It is stated in the ASIC documents Carlos Vanselow owes the company $30,000, in what is described as a loan.
Previous stories by this publication show Mr Vanselow previously operated Noosa Greek restaurant Santorini in 2019, which was formerly called Sirocco.
Another story published in 2020 referred to Mr Vanselow as having operated six restaurants in the tourist hotspot, some of which closed during the Covid-19 pandemic.
They included Pasta Pronto, Grind Cafe, Moondoggy’s and Maisies, according to the story.
W’Gusto Supermarkets Pty Ltd
The statutory report into the company, W’Gusto Supermarket Pty Ltd, was published with the corporate regulator earlier this year after it was placed into liquidation in March.
Liquidator Jason Bettles stated in the statutory report the supermarket began trading in Pelican Waters in July 2024 and was directed by Charles Gregory Weiss.
Australian Securities and Investments Commission documents stated Mr Weiss believed the company collapsed due to several reasons including a lack of parking and an issue with the register not scanning items.
“According to the director, the company started experiencing financial difficulties just prior to the Pelican Waters store opening due to the store being in a new development (and therefore, not having an established customer base), lack of available customer parking at the premises and products not scanning at the register,” the report stated.
“The director further advised that by the time these issues were resolved, the company’s cash flow never recovered.”
The report reveals the total debt claimed by creditors stood at $3.05m, as of June 2025.
Shanahan Koebsch Pty Ltd
The company Shanahan Koebsch Pty Ltd, which traded as SK Works, was placed into liquidation in February, Australian Securities and Investments Commission documents revealed.
ASIC documents show the company was first registered in August 2015 and was directed by Karana Downs resident Sharon Holmes.
The company’s principal place of business is listed in the documents as a Mountain Creek address.
A Federal Court order made on Wednesday, February 12, 2025, appointed liquidator from RSM Australia, Mitchell Herrett, to wind the company up.
The court order also lists Viva Energy Australia Pty Ltd as a supporting creditor in the winding up.
Mr Herrett said the SK Works provided services involving civil works across southeast Queensland before its collapse, which was a result of the company’s failure to pay a substantial tax debt.
Mr Herrett revealed the company had accumulated a debt of $588,689 owed to the Australian Taxation Office.
Custom Classics Noosa Pty Ltd
The company, Custom Classics Noosa Pty Ltd, formerly traded under the business name Customs ‘N’ Classics Noosa, according to the Australian Business Register.
According to Australian Securities and Investments Commission documents the company was registered in December 2020, after previous strike-off action.
The ASIC documents show the company was placed into liquidation on November 14 and Bill Karageozis and Nikita Keramos were appointed to complete the creditor’s voluntary winding up.
Company director Robert Anthony Keogh told this publication the business was still trading after it was bought by a separate entity, which was made known to the liquidators.
“The business has been sold to a new entity for market value with the knowledge and consent of the liquidator of the old entity and so the business will continue to trade as usual,” Mr Keogh said.
A website for the business shows it is at 33A Rene St, Noosaville.
Noosa Labour Services Pty Ltd
A Noosa cafe mogul has been tied to a second company collapse, this time a company forcibly wound up by the Australian Taxation Office.
The company, Noosa Labour Services Pty Ltd, was liquidated by an order made in the Federal Court on November 7, 2025.
Liquidators Damien Lee Hou Lau and Peter Anthony Lucas were appointed to the company by the court.
According to a notice published in October this year, the Deputy Commissioner of Taxation applied to have the company wound up in September.
Australian Securities and Investments Commission documents show the company was previously directed by Noosa woman Flavia Santos Oliveira Vanselow, prior to the collapse.
Ms Vanselow’s primary residence is the same as another Noosa company director, Carlos Alberto Vanselow Filho, according to the ASIC documents.
Mr Vanselow is the director of the company, Hermosa Restaurants and Services Pty Ltd, which was also placed into liquidation.
Another story published in 2020 referred to Mr Vanselow as having operated six restaurants in the tourist hotspot, some of which closed during the Covid-19 pandemic.
They included Pasta Pronto, Grind Cafe, Moondoggy’s and Maisies, according to the story.
It is not suggested the liquidation of Mr Vanselow’s company has impacted any hospitality venues.
Futur Engineering Pty Ltd
The company, Futur Engineering Pty Ltd, was placed into voluntary liquidation in October and Paul Nogueira was appointed to complete the winding up.
The Australian Securities and Investments Commission company summary shows three former names the business had traded under including Insight Structural Engineering Pty Ltd, Structure Pro Pty Ltd and Lifestyle Laundry Pty Ltd.
The company’s director, Luke James Hunter, acted in the role since the company was established in 2017.
The Futur Engineering website stated it completed a range of projects.
“We specialise in working with clients in the industrial sheds, mining/resources, modular construction, building manufacturers and building product manufacturer spaces,” the website stated.
It is estimated in the report about $292,078 is owed to the ATO in insolvencies, while about $13,900 is owed to the ATO in superannuation.
A debt of $25,730 is owed to Prospa Advance Pty Ltd, who is listed as a secured creditor, the documents stated.
641 888 226 Pty Ltd (Eco Earth Plumbing)
The company, which is currently referred to by the ACN number 641 888 226 Pty Ltd, previously traded as Eco Earth Plumbing, according to the Australian Business Register.
According to documents filed with Australian Securities and Investments Commission the company first appointed a restructuring practitioner in August 2025 before entering voluntary liquidation on October 10, 2025.
Liquidator Dane Hammond from Worrells was appointed to complete the winding up.
The director of the company, Maria Rosa Fisher, first contacted Mr Hammond in September this year regarding a failed attempt to restructure the business.
Ms Fisher told this publication all employees had been paid.
The documents list the ATO as the main creditor, which is owed about $757,000 in “insolvencies” and about $100,000 in superannuation debts.
The total debt figure is estimated to be $894,157.
North Birtinya Developments Pty Ltd
Australian Securities and Investments Commission documents show the company, North Birtinya Developments Pty Ltd, entered liquidation on July 15, 2025.
According to ASIC documents, Sunshine Coast man Stephen Mark Hopes acted as the co-director of the company, along with Buderim man Russell Glenn Piggott.
The company was created in Fortitude Valley in 2018, with both Mr Piggott and Mr Hopes working as directors since its establishment.
The ASIC notice stated Mr Piggott was also appointed as the company’s liquidator.
Mr Hopes told this publication North Birtinya Developments owed no money to creditors and had not completed any projects for a number of years.
Giumelli Group Pty Ltd
The company, Giumelli Group Pty Ltd, was placed into liquidation on Monday, July 21, according to a notice published by the Australian Securities and Investments Commission.
ASIC documents show Trent Simon Giumelli acted as both the director and secretary of the company since its establishment in April 2013.
The ASIC notice showed Damien McKern was appointed to complete the liquidation and winding up of Giumelli Group.
Mr Giumelli is also the director of Giumelli Group Australia Pty Ltd, which was first registered with ASIC in March 2025, documents show.
Mr Giumelli often shares reels to social media, describing himself as a “multi-millionaire” while sharing financial advice.
It is not suggested Giumelli Group Australia is impacted by the liquidation.
Influencer Giveaways Pty Ltd
An Australian Investments and Securities Commission notice shows the Baringa-based company, Influencer Giveaways Pty Ltd, entered liquidation in February this year.
The company is solely directed by Shanice Natasha Stevenson, a Tik Tok creator on the Sunshine Coast, according to the documents shared with the corporate regulator.
The company, which was first registered in July 2019 and ceased trading in November last year, is described by Ms Stevenson as a “digital agency”.
“Our company is a digital agency offering online services, so we don’t require physical assets to operate. We rely on expertise and cloud-based tools, enabling us to deliver value efficiently without traditional business infrastructure,” the documents stated.
Twin Creek Junction Pty Ltd
The farm, Twin Creek Junction, spans more than 100 hectares in the Glass House Mountains, according to the real estate listing.
The principal place of business for the company, Twin Creek Junction Pty Ltd, is listed at 38 Morrison Rd, Glass House Mountains.
According to Australian Securities and Investments Commission documents, the company, Twin Creek Junction Pty Ltd, was placed into voluntary liquidation by creditors in February this year, with Gavin Morton appointed as the liquidator.
ASIC documents show the company’s director, Leonard Brian Smith, acted in the role since October last year; prior to that the company was directed by Tracey Leigh Smith.
The report from the liquidator, published to ASIC in May 2025, revealed the company had accumulated more than $4m in debt.
The report states Mr Smith put the company’s failure down to being “unable to pay bills and wages”.
Thai Thyme Sunshine Pty Ltd
The company behind a popular Sunshine Coast restaurant has entered liquidation, following the store’s mysterious closure earlier this year.
The company, Thai Thyme Sunshine Pty Ltd, traded under a business named Come By Thai Thyme, according to the Australia Business Register.
Australian Securities and Investments Commission documents showed the company was placed in voluntary liquidation earlier this month, following a general meeting with the company’s members.
The ASIC notice also showed the company operated under another business name, Thai Thyme Sunshine Plaza.
Social media posts showed the Sunshine Plaza store closed without explanation in March this year.
