Landsborough train closure: Sunshine Coast man identified as train line fatal victim

Police say a Sunshine Coast traveller is believed to be the man who lost his life at the Landsborough train station, causing delays between Caboolture and Nambour.

Queensland Rail reveals near-misses

A person who died in a serious incident at Landsborough station is understood to be an elderly man from the Sunshine Coast.

Paramedics and police rushed to the Cribb St station in Landsborough about 2pm on Friday June 24, 2022 to reports a man had fallen onto the train tracks.

A Queensland Police spokesman confirmed the man died at the scene.

The man is yet to be formally identified but police said they believe him to be in his 80s and confirmed his next of kin had been told of the tragedy.

A Queensland Rail spokeswoman said trains between Caboolture and Nambour were closed for several hours with travellers ferried by rail buses between the impacted stations.

TransLink confirmed the train line reopened within three hours of the incident after emergency services cleared the area.
