Riley Carkeet pleads guilty to sex crime against girl under 16
A 20-year-old Gympie man has pleaded guilty to committing a sexual offence against an underage girl last year.

A 20-year-old Gympie man will be sentenced in District Court later this month after pleading guilty to having carnal knowledge of a child under 16 years-of-age.
Riley Colin Carkeet, who had been ordered to appear on Monday for pre-recording of evidence, instead entered his plea to the lone charge shortly after 1pm.
Supporters for Carkeet and the victim sat in the public gallery when he entered his plea.
He will be sentenced at the end of next week.
The crime happened in June 2020; no other details of the incident were read out in court owing to the adjournment.
