Lawyers for a man accused of shooting a Mackay mum dead as she sat in her parked car are waiting for more evidence linked to the police investigation before the case can proceed in court.
There were 51 statements outstanding, Mackay Magistrates Court heard on Friday as the case against Ryan Geoffrey Cole was briefly mentioned.
Mr Cole is charged with murdering 34-year-old Natalie Frahm about 4.30pm on June 19, 2024.
Police allege Mr Cole shot Ms Frahm in the head and chest in front of two children as she sat in her car in her driveway on Robb Place, about to take the pair to a sporting event.
The two girls were able to run and get help from James ‘Jimmy’ McGill, 66, who was nearby visiting his 89-year-old mother’s home at the time.
It is alleged Cole also shot Mr McGill in the chest and he was taken to hospital in a serious condition.
A three-hour manhunt ensued with police taking Cole, 31, into custody about 7.45pm at the Paget KCF/BP service station.
He is charged with Ms Frahm’s murder and the attempted murder of Mr McGill. No pleas have been entered.
The court heard Mr Cole remained in custody on remand.
Robert Beamish, of McKay’s Solicitors who was appearing on behalf of Guest Lawyers, said there were still 51 statements outstanding in relation to the police brief of evidence, as well as issues with a number of exhibits.
Police prosecutor Sergeant Linden Pollard said the brief of evidence was not yet due to be disclosed to Mr Cole’s lawyers, but he would make inquiries.
Mr Beamish told the court he had been informed the brief had been due on April 4.
The case was adjourned to later in April and Magistrate Damien Dwyer said he would order a video link for Mr Cole.
“He’s got a bit of an interest in this, he’s in custody waiting for the brief,” Mr Dwyer said.
