The mother of missing Murgon man Jack McLennan, Kellie Moody, has taken matters into her own hands by hiring a private investigator in her latest effort to uncover the truth behind her son’s disappearance.
Frustrated by the lack of progress in the police investigation, Ms Moody announced on Facebook this week that she is hiring a private investigator to dig deeper into the mysterious circumstances surrounding Jack’s last known whereabouts.
Jack McLennan, 27, was last seen in Ficks Crossing near Murgon in the South Burnett region, northwest of the Sunshine Coast, on October 4 last year.
There have been no substantial breakthroughs in the case despite police efforts.

Jack’s shoes and wallet were found seemingly abandoned in late November 2024 with no further signs of his whereabouts.

In her Facebook statement revealing the investigator’s hiring Ms Moody said it was disappointing she was forced to take this route, but it crucial to ensuring those involved with Jack that night are thoroughly scrutinised,

“I will not stop until I get to the truth,” Ms Moody said in the post.
“No one will ever scare me, and I will never stop searching for the truth,” she said.
“Whoever was with my son that night, I am looking at you constantly.”

Ms Moody said she had received numerous tips from members of the public, some of whom claim to know the people Jack was with when he went missing.

“The shoes, the wallet with nothing in it … sounds like a cover up,” Ms Moody said.

Ms Moody said she was planning to emblazon Jack’s picture on his car, which she says she will never sell.

“I love being in it, his smell, his music brings back memories of him driving us around with the music blaring and me saying to turn it down,” she said.

People have also been raising funds through a GoFundMe campaign to support her investigation, including covering the costs of search teams and expenses for volunteers.

“Our investigation takes time and the searches are so exhausting so we need numbers,” she said.
Ms Moody is hoping others can help her rule out a particular area.
“I’m calling out to men of the land and horsemen,” she said.

Despite the difficulties and sleepless nights, Ms Moody remains steadfast.
“Jack had a beautiful soul, and I will never rest until the truth is known,” Ms Moody said.
