A pregnant woman has been sentenced in a Sunshine Coast court after pleading guilty to a string of bail breaches.

Natalie Taia Lewis, 22, previously lived at Gracemere, Rockhampton and has been living at Boonooroo on the Fraser Coast since her release from custody on remand a month ago.

The 22-year-old appeared in the Maroochydore Magistrates Court on Friday, April 11, where she pleaded guilty to four breach of bail charges.

Police prosecutor sergeant Nick Nitschke told the court the breaches included not reporting, not following her curfew and contacting an alleged co-offender, Ethan William Scully.

Solicitor Cherisse Wildin told the court Lewis had already served nearly five months in custody and had not breached her bail conditions since she was released from custody last month.

She saif her client was currently seven months pregnant and faced a high risk of complications.

“At the time of these offences she was drug addicted and affected by substances this obviously changed when she became aware she was pregnant,” Ms Wildin said.

Maroochydore magistrate Raelene Ellis fined Lewis $750 and adjourned the 22-year-old’s remaining charges to May 12.

Convictions were recorded.
